Spot UV File Preparation Guidelines

To make the most of your design with spot UV coating, here are some key best practices:

  • Keep text font sizes to a minimum of 7 or 8 points.
  • Ensure that borders and strokes are at least 1.5 points wide.
  • Maintain a 1/16” gap between the spot UV area and any metallic or foil printed sections. Spot UV should not overlap with metallic or foil elements.

Preparing Your File for Spot UV Printing

  1. Your color file should include a spot UV template layer that indicates where the spot UV will be applied.
  2. Apply 100% K (black) to the areas that will have spot UV.
  3. All non-spot UV areas should be filled with white to ensure proper print registration.
