Spot UV File Preparation Guidelines
To make the most of your design with spot UV coating, here are some key best practices:
- Keep text font sizes to a minimum of 7 or 8 points.
- Ensure that borders and strokes are at least 1.5 points wide.
- Maintain a 1/16” gap between the spot UV area and any metallic or foil printed sections. Spot UV should not overlap with metallic or foil elements.
Preparing Your File for Spot UV Printing
- Your color file should include a spot UV template layer that indicates where the spot UV will be applied.
- Apply 100% K (black) to the areas that will have spot UV.
- All non-spot UV areas should be filled with white to ensure proper print registration.
